Sonrise Ministries

Sonrise Ministries Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives in southern Uganda through compassionate, Christ-centered care and empowerment. Operating as a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organization, we provide essential funding and resources to support four key initiatives under two Ugandan-registered NGOs: Sonrise Baby Home, Sonrise Children's Home, Mirembe Cottage for Girls, and Melchizedek Pastoral Ministry. Our mission is to rescue and nurture vulnerable children, strengthen communities through discipleship, and promote sustainability and self-reliance, fostering lasting spiritual and socio-economic transformation.Rescuing and Nurturing Vulnerable Children: At Sonrise Baby Home in Wabilongo Village, Kangulumira Town, we provide a safe and loving environment for infants, addressing their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs while promoting sustainable agriculture. Sonrise Children’s Home in Abutanula Village, near Kamuli Town, serves as a Christian home for children over age four, supports resettled children, and operates the Community Christian Nursery and Primary School—educating students and sponsoring secondary education off campus. At Mirembe Cottage for Girls in Wakikoola B Village, Buikwe District, we empower rescued girls—both in the main home and the Transition Home through spiritual guidance, education, and vocational training to equip them for independent and fulfilling lives.Fulfilling the Great Commission: Through Melchizedek Pastoral and Church Planting Ministry, we train biblically grounded church leaders across eastern Uganda, mentoring village church plants to foster evangelism and encouragement in local communities. We strive to plant four new churches per year. Fifteen have been planted through June 2025. We also support several pastors at Uganda Baptist Seminary in Jinja, equipping them to lead with integrity and spread the Gospel effectively, strengthening the spiritual fabric of the region.Promoting Sustainability and Self-Reliance: Sonrise Ministries Inc. invests in agricultural and livestock initiatives across our programs to ensure food security and create employment opportunities. We maintain critical infrastructure including schools, hospitals, and worship centers—which serve both our beneficiaries and surrounding villages, reducing dependency and empowering communities to thrive independently.Operational Support and Global Partnerships: By providing operational funding, supporting infrastructure development, and facilitating international mission partnerships, Sonrise Ministries Inc. ensures the long-term sustainability of these initiatives. Our work uplifts vulnerable populations and advances the Gospel in Uganda, building a foundation for spiritual growth and socio-economic progress. Through these efforts, we impact lives from infants and children to church leaders and community members—creating a ripple effect of hope and transformation across southern Uganda.
