About Joni and Friends
Since 1979, Joni and Friends has committed to reaching and serving the 1.3 billion people in our world today who live with disability. That’s one out of every six people, or 16% of the world’s population. Joni and Friends brings practical help and the saving love of Jesus to people with disabilities, while mobilizing the global church to serve people with disabilities. We envision a world where every person with a disability finds hope, dignity, and their place in the body of Christ. To bring this vision to life, Joni and Friends offers a variety of services and programs. • Through Wheels for the World™, Joni and Friends provides custom-fitted wheelchairs, along with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to people who cannot otherwise access necessary mobility equipment. • In the U.S. and abroad, Joni and Friends holds Retreats & Getaways, multiple-day programs that offer respite, community, and hope to people living with disability. • The Christian Institute on Disability is the leading authority on disability-related issues from a biblical perspective, offering higher education, ministry training, and public policy that promotes a biblical understanding of life, human dignity, and the value of all individuals.• Through Joni’s House programs, Joni and Friends identifies and meets the needs of people living with disabilities through local support. Joni’s House is raising the standard of care for people with disabilities, offering physical, economic, spiritual, and social support, all in the name of Jesus.? • The Joni and Friends Internship Program equips students to become leaders in disability ministry poised to transform lives through the Gospel, impact their churches and communities for Christ, and advocate for justice, freedom, and equality for people with disabilities. With every wheelchair and Bible delivered, every Family Retreat and respite event held, and every course taught, we follow the call of Jesus found in Luke 14: “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.… Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” (Luke 14:21, 23, NIV)
