The First Baptist Church of Denton is a local church, part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The church conducts worship services, small group Bible Study, with various ministries to missions, men, women, children, youth, university students, senior adults and many charity related programs and activities. The church is focused on the "Great Commission" as found in Matthew's gospel the 28th chapter. The church has a biblical based doctrine with a traditional view of Jesus Christ as the third person of the Trinity, the Savior of the World and the only way to God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. The church sponsors a number of programs throughout the week for the care and education of children. The church founded and supports a benevolence ministry named First Refuge which meets the needs of the citizens of Denton with medical, dental, food, rent and utility assistance and referral services.
