Aslan Youth Ministries
About Aslan Youth Ministries
Aslan Youth Ministries is a Christ-centered, non-denominational ministry that serves the spiritual, emotional & physical needs of urban, at-risk children and families in the underserved, African-American community. Founded in 1975, Aslan's multifaceted, year-round programs regularly reach 125 children through Right Choices Bible classes, tutoring & mentoring, summer camps, enrichment & recreation. In 1996, Aslan expanded our ministry to Haiti, one of the poorest countries on earth. We own 6 acres of land in L'Acajou, Haiti, in the far northeastern part of the country near the Dominican Republic. Through our medical clinic, church, sewing school, clean-water program, food supplement program, and myriad other ways, Aslan ministers year-round to 200 children and hundreds of families. The heart of Aslan Youth Ministries is relationship building - empowering children ages 5 through adulthood to overcome the negative aspects of their lives & environments. Aslan brings people of all races together under the banner of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each year we employee the gifts and talents of almost 500 volunteers who give their time and talents to work together with us in serving our children and families. From our beginning, we have dreamed that our practical model of relationship-driven ministry will grow into cities throughout our country & world.
What “Trusted” Means
Trusted ministries meet our complete baseline framework for faithful Christian operation. This ministry has been verified against eleven of fifteen criteria in The Most Trusted Standard — demonstrating doctrinal clarity, biblical stewardship, independent financial review, faithful handling of donor intent, independent board governance, conflict-of-interest protections, truthful communications, and active mission-aligned programs.
Trusted represents the foundation on which our higher designations are built. Highly Trusted and Most Trusted ministries demonstrate additional levels of public transparency and independent evaluation that go beyond this baseline.
