About Amazi Water

When you partner with Amazi Water, you help provide safe, clean water and access to the Gospel for every community in Burundi. As the primary Burundi NGO providing water relief, Amazi is poised to provide access to safe, clean water border-to-border by 2030.Densely populated Burundi is sometimes called “The Forgotten Country.” Years of civil war have decimated infrastructure and the economy, making it one of the poorest countries in the world. A large percentage of the population lacks access to clean water even though there is extensive underground water. This makes water wells particularly cost-effective when measured by “cost per person served.” Our partnerships with local churches and national church planters take the endeavor from being a simple physical one to a physical and spiritual mission.Burundi is no longer forgotten. The people there are full of promise as Amazi Water is Burundi’s first and only in-country, dedicated water organization. We are on pace to provide every community with access to safe, clean water by 2030. Amazi Water has already provided clean water to more than 1.6 million people and is about one-third of the way towards achieving its ambitious mission and goal. “Clean water is the foundational building block that helps communities rise above abject poverty. Until access to clean water is addressed, nothing else can be effective.” — Robert Vanman, Charmain, Amazi WaterWe have purchased our own drilling rigs and hired GIS engineers, hydrogeologists, construction teams, community workers, and extensive staff. Today, Amazi Water is the de facto, in-country water partner for many other organizations, including the World Food Program. Our success is built on a foundation of spiritual focus, experienced staff, and the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery and vehicles. Amazi Water has a laser-focused vision, a production-minded operation, and an NGO heart for the people. Our goals are enabled by the acceptance of the people and the Government of Burundi and the partnership of like-minded organizations.
