Most Trusted verifies Christian ministries against a clear, rigorous framework so believers can give with confidence, clarity, and Kingdom impact.
More than 1.5 million registered nonprofits exist in the United States — tens of thousands identify as Christian. For donors who want their giving to reflect both faith and faithful stewardship, that landscape is overwhelming.
Existing accountability organizations each verify something valuable — but none speak directly to the Christian donor's full set of concerns. Doctrinal foundation. Biblical stewardship. Financial integrity. Governance health. Operational effectiveness. Donors need all of these, considered together.
Fifteen criteria, organized across four pillars. Every ministry we list has been verified against this framework.
Doctrinal clarity and Christian mission alignment.
Affirms a clear, public statement of faith aligned with historic orthodox Christian doctrine.
Operates with a mission explicitly grounded in Christian principles and biblical stewardship of resources entrusted to it.
Maintains accountability to recognized standards of Christian financial integrity and ministry stewardship.
Sound financial practices that honor donor trust.
Undergoes annual independent financial audit, review, or compilation appropriate to organizational size and complexity.
Discloses executive compensation and demonstrates compensation practices appropriate to the organization's size, scope, and sector.
Honors donor intent on designated and restricted gifts, ensuring contributions are used as donors directed.
Independent oversight and ethical leadership.
Operates under an independent governing board with a majority of members who are not staff, related to staff, or otherwise compromised in independence.
Maintains and follows documented conflict-of-interest policies to protect the organization and those it serves.
Shows no unresolved regulatory, legal, or accountability concerns that would compromise donor trust.
Open practices and demonstrated faithful operation.
Communicates truthfully and accurately in fundraising appeals, public communications, and donor reporting.
Demonstrates active program activity consistent with the organization's stated mission and purpose.
Makes complete financial records and Form 990 (or applicable equivalent) accessible to the public.
Publicly discloses board composition, key leadership, and detailed program information so donors can see how the organization is run.
Maintains and discloses a complete framework of governance policies, including whistleblower and document-retention policies.
Has undergone independent evaluation of financial efficiency, program spending, and operational performance against rigorous sector benchmarks.
Every award represents a meaningful level of verified integrity. The difference between awards is the depth and breadth of what has been independently confirmed.
Verified on 11 of 15 criteria.
Trusted ministries have demonstrated the foundational standards of faithful Christian operation: doctrinal clarity, biblical stewardship, sound financial review, donor intent honored, independent board governance, conflict-of-interest protections, truthful communications, active mission-aligned programs, and no outstanding accountability concerns. Trusted represents the foundation on which all higher awards are built.
Verified on 14 of 15 criteria.
Highly Trusted organizations have demonstrated everything required of Trusted ministries and have taken substantial steps to make their operations publicly accountable. They have made financial records comprehensively accessible, publicly disclosed governance and program information, and maintain a complete framework of governance policies — putting their information in the open where any donor can examine it.
Verified on all 15 criteria.
Most Trusted is our highest designation. These ministries have demonstrated everything required of Highly Trusted organizations and have been independently evaluated against rigorous nonprofit performance benchmarks — confirmed to operate at the highest standard. Most Trusted reflects the full convergence of Christian stewardship, public transparency, and independently evaluated operational excellence.
Verification isn't a one-time judgment. It's an ongoing process of confirming that the ministries we list continue to operate with the integrity their donors expect.
We verify each criterion through a combination of public records, independent accountability organizations, IRS filings, ministry-published materials, and direct review. Our verification draws on multiple authoritative sources for each criterion, with regular re-verification to ensure listings remain current.
On each organization's profile, we display which of the fifteen criteria have been verified — so donors can see exactly what each ministry has demonstrated.
We reserve editorial discretion in all listings. Meeting technical criteria does not automatically guarantee inclusion.
We re-verify organizations regularly. When an organization's status changes — through a new evaluation, a public concern raised about its operations, or any other material change — we update its award or listing status accordingly. Organizations may move between awards, be added, or be removed at any time.
Our goal is not to maintain a static list, but to provide donors with current, accurate information about which Christian ministries are demonstrating the highest standards of trustworthy operation today.
Our framework verifies practices, transparency, and accountability — not theological agreement on every doctrinal point, and not guarantees about future conduct. A Most Trusted designation means an organization has demonstrated the standards we've defined. It is one important input into giving decisions, not a substitute for personal discernment, prayer, and direct engagement with the ministries you support. We encourage donors to use Most Trusted as a starting point — to identify ministries that have demonstrated faithfulness in the areas we verify — and then to engage further with the organizations whose missions align with what God has called you to support.
